I miss you!
And I miss you!
And I definitely miss you!
You know who you are.
An unrelated note? Apparently I fall about as gracefully as I play sports, which is not gracefully at all. What was worse? It was stepping on a bead from a broken necklace in the backroom. Well, I mean, I didn't fall, but I came really close. Accessories are dangerous things when used incorrectly. Which is why they should be treated with the utmost care and even respect! Just because you believe that bohemian-style, wooden bead necklace goes with that shabby chic dress doesn't mean your necklace does.

I'M DONE!
For now. There's still plenty of schooling left, but for the time being, I'm completely done. Summertime, here I come! I plan to take you on by the horns and hang on for the ride of my life! I really hope my summer is filled with some kind of epic adventure in which I will get rescued, have to eat something gross, and kiss some dark and handsome guy under the starlit summer sky in the middle of the woods.
I have big plans, Kansas! Stella Malone will take you by storm! |

Finals.
Finals have taken over my life! But only temporarily. The semester's almost over, though. Which means -- SUMMER! My favorite time of the year!
I'll check back and write haiku and poetry about my adoration of summer when I'm not neck-deep in material and notions! |

While a lot of people went away from spring break, I decided not to. I know I could have, but I decided to hang out around Kansas. Honestly, I've never been to the midwest. It was definitely an adventure. I did manage to find the best coffee shop since leaving my favorite one behind back home. I also found a fantastic second-hand shop that old vintage materials, trims, buttons, and all kinds of adorable things! I think I spent way more then I should have, but I have beautiful material and notions for assignments coming up. This one material I found would make a fantastic shift dress. I did make myself a super comfortable, stretch wool top out of this mauve sheer fabric. It looks amazing over this camisole I brought with me. I'm totally wearing it tomorrow for the first day back to classes.
Speaking of being back: I saw those pictures of you guys (Nick and Macy, I'm totally pointing to you!) in California. Was it amazing? The beach looked gorgeous! I'm thinking over the summer I should try and make an attempt to see California. Yes! That's totally a plan. Guys, we should take a group trip or something!
Or Vancouver! Oh that place looked fabulous during the Olympics! The city, though. I mean, the woods and all looked beautiful, but we all know that Stella Malone doesn't do hiking. Or any sport for that matter. |

Okay, whoever thought it would be funny to take my favorite pair of fabric scissors are dead if I don't get them back! They were out in the common room of the suite when I was trimming pieces of fabric. I left them, and the fabric, there for less than five minutes to get a drink, came back and they were gone.
So. Not. Cool.
If you have them, just return them. Accidents happen and everything. And if it was an accident, I'll totally make you a really cool piece of clothing, or something. I just really need them back so I can finish these projects with clean-cut fabric. Regular scissors just don't cut it. |

I really can't believe that's it's already February. More over, I can't believe that the first week of this new month is almost over! Already one full month into the new year. Crazy! Really! Where is the time going? I'm honestly still trying to figure that out myself, but I'm not having much luck. I suppose I could blame it on my school work.
Which, by the way, is where I've been. I've been meaning to write, but with the load of school work and projects that I've been working on? There's really no time to write a proper entry.
I really can't wait for this winter weather to be done and over with. And thank you, Mr. Groundhog. I really am not looking forward to six more weeks of winter. I really wanted an early spring! I'm really tired of snow and ice. And should I even mention that we're suppose to get more snow this week? I wouldn't mind it so much if I didn't have to trudge through it for classes. Thankfully my snow boots are still in perfect condition regardless of the bad weather. It's a good thing I know all types of shoes and the right kind to buy for any type of weather.
Stella Malone, out! |

Second day of classes is really the most exhilarating day if you ask me. Everything is new: assignments, professors, classmates. It's exciting! I'm really looking forward to this new semester. I thought about doing some extra curricular classes, but I'm not sure what. I think Macy would fall over if I even considered something sportsy.
And, this came as a big surprise - shocking actually! - I got a Christmas card from Van Dyke. It's just kind of odd considering I'm pretty sure I didn't tell him I was coming to Kansas for school. Huh.
In other news? I sort of...cut my hair! I really like it! I definitely took a deep breath and held it until I couldn't anymore when they cut my hair, but I really like how it turned out. Macy even took an amazing picture to show it off. She's really so talented. I love her pictures!

I really can't thank my favorite group of people enough for making my first Christmas away from home absolutely amazing. Kevin, Nick, Joe and Macy: You are all the best and I really could not ask for anyone else I would want to spend my holidays - or every day - with.
Nick, thank you SO much for my ticket! I absolutely cannot wait to attend the Jacques Lafaiette spring fashion show! I'm glad it's spring as I have to find the perfect outfit. Even if it means making a handful and not wearing any of them, I will find the perfect outfit!
Joe, you are the most amazing person. I am the luckiest girl to have you not only as a best friend, but as the most amazing boyfriend in the world.
Kevin, you make me smile no matter what! Even if you have this weird obsession with wanting to wear leather vests without shirts, or zebra print pants, your sense of humor never fails.
Macy, you are my best friend now and forever. I feel as though I have known you for my entire life and I wouldn't ask for it to be any other way.
Here is to the new year! |

I'm done!
Oh, it feels so wonderful to be done with all that school work, exams, and finals. And now? Now I have all this time to worry about working and spending time with the most amazing people in the world.
Macy, are we still invading Joe and Kevin's place during our vacation? I'll have to pack a few things up. I can come by and help you pack up some things, too. That is, if it's still all right with Joe and Kevin that we're practically crashing in their space until classes for the Spring semester start up again. Something tells me that they won't mind, but I certainly would never want to impose.
But we're not really imposing, are we guys?
Um, by the way, Joe apparently has a look-a-like. A very, very accurate look-a-like. |

Two more finals tomorrow and I'm done! Oh I can't wait. I should really be sleeping, but I'm just far too excited. I should completely ace these finals. I think, when I'm done with finals, I'm going to celebrate with selling my books and not thinking about classes or school until I need to!
I also will be able to spend my free days, while I'm not working, with my bestest best friend, my amazing boyfriend, and my second family for the holidays. Really, could anyone ask for anything better? Well, I wish Macy's ankle wasn't injured, but other than that, I'm completely content. Coming to Kansas was the best thing I could have done.
I've also been on an orange juice kick. A major orange juice kick. I suppose that's okay, though, since it keeps you filled with vitamin C and other helpful nutrients. I really don't want to get sick around the holidays! |

Now, I'm no Macy Misa when it comes to photography, but I took a few pictures during my break in studying and general un-fun things to do.
( A bit boring, but fun I think! )
So close to being done!
And then, when I'm done -- Macy? I really want to take some pictures of the project I did for this semester. Once I get my grade, we should take pictures. Would you be down for that? |

Finals are next week. Someone please make sure I leave my dorm room long enough to shower and eat. After finals are over, a celebration including cookies, donuts, hot chocolate, and other sorts of comforting food. I'll need some sort of way to forget about the hours I've put into sewing, reading, making flash cards, and sticking myself with stitching needles.
But, on a more uplifting note? I finished all my patterns, drafts, and presents! |

"If you're worried And you can't sleep Just try count your blessings Instead of of sheep And you'll fall asleep Counting your blessings."
My absolute favorite holiday movie, White Christmas, is on. And even though it's really late and this will probably keep me up for ages, I'm going to sit here in my favorite pair of fleece pajamas with my cup of hot cocoa. I absolutely adore the costumes in this movie. Well, I love everything about this movie. Such a classic!
Tomorrow will be filled with finishing up some final projects, getting some studying under my belt, and finishing up Christmas presents. I don't think I'm working tomorrow, so finishing everything should be pretty easy. If I'm working tomorrow, I'll have to play Super Stella to get everything done. |

[Nov. 10th, 2009|03:00 pm] |
You know, it's surprisingly warm for the beginning of November. Normally I'm digging through my collection of knit scarves and gloves, but my spring coat seems to be doing the trick nicely. Of course, that's most likely because it's made with only the best satin lining to provide both warmth and comfort for those mildly cool days such as today. I'm just waiting for the weather to take that drastic and dramatic turn where we go from the comfortable mid-sixties to the dreadfully low teens. That will be the only downfall with having to walk from building to building for classes. And may the fashion gods help me if I need to drag my dress form across the campus to the sewing studios. Most of the time they provide them, which they do have a few, but not enough for everyone. And sharing a dress form is so not an option. You won't get proper measurements or have the right fit, and then your masterpiece is ruined.
By the way, would anyone have any extra yarn they're not using? I'm working on an independent project, and I need as many loose pieces of yarn I can get my hands on.
Speaking of getting my hands on something, Simi's just got the most beautiful order of broaches in that I have ever seen! Well, except the ones I managed to sneak a peek at that one runway show in Milan, but still! They're gorgeous and I sincerely hope they let the employees wear them while they're on the clock to model. There is one shaped like a budding iris that would look amazing with my LeJean plum sweater dress. Oh, I'm keeping my pin-pricked fingers crossed on both hands! |

| [ | Current Mood |
| | determined | ] | It BROKE! Oh my goodness, this really isn't happening. It didn't, but it did. Right in the middle of putting in a top stitch, the needle on the ancient sewing machines in the studio broke. And now the material that I spent weeks looking for is completely ruined. This...this is worse then when Joe "accidentally" ruined the one-of-a-kind clothes I made for him and his brothers to see the Prime Minister of England in. I don't even know if I can find the same material to mend this with!
Can I put in a formal request for new sewing machines? Can I bring my own? Well, if I had brought my own. Not to mention the surgers don't work, either. Don't you know how important it is to run your material through a surger before you can sew it together? If you don't want fraying seams, it MUST be done. I would use pinking shears, but they're a bit on the rusted side. I guess a lot of people don't study fashion design in the mid-west.
This is HORRIBLE. I keep looking at this poor dress. It was so perfect and it would have been beautiful and now it's just ruined.
No. No, I can fix it. I'm Stella Malone! I can fix anything.
I suppose I can make a cute vest out of it... |
